I baked this cake for my brother and uncle birthdays last week. This cake has a story. First of all my brother is known for being obsessed with everything peanut butter.
I don’t know if I already told you but my Dad is mixed and I grew up in Africa, in Ivory Coast for the most part. We came back in France when I was about 14.
In Africa we used to eat a peanut butter sauce with chicken and rice.
I know that it sounds like a Fall cake. Pomegranates and Cranberries are Fall Fruits. The truth is : It was one of my birthday Cake and my birthday was December the 2nd which is in Fall. The truth is also that even thought I haven’t blogged in almost a year I kept baking and taking pictures when I was able to do so.
I told you that I had to move to Lyon for 7 months last year and we had to share
Tuesday was my mom’s Birthday and I love my mom so much that I needed to bake her a special Cake. So I started thinking. I wanted something original and that would really surprise her. And finally, while driving to the airport a few weeks ago I had the idea : An After Eight Cake.
My mom has always loved those After Eight thin mints. She loves chocolate filled with mint. She loves eveything
My brother’s birthday is next week but he will be back in Canada by then so we decided on organizing a pre-birthday lunch while we are still all together, before he leaves. The day I picked him at the airport (3 weeks ago ), I asked him what he would like as a birthday cake and he answered me : « Un fraisier ».
First thing to know is I love strawberries so bad but I don’t like fraisier
Another Layer Cake. I think Layer Cakes are my new Black.
We were invited to dinner at my « parents in law » last Friday. Which means an opportunity to bake because we were supposed to be .. humm .. Six … Yeah , yeah I know every opportunity is good to take. So after some thinking ( pretty complicated as always), I decided to go with a Maple Pecan Layer Cake with Maple Swiss Meringue
